Storytelling Night
We're hosting a special storytelling night MC’d by Ingrid Goldbloom, where we can come together to connect on a deeper level, have fun, and be inspired by each other's stories.
This is an opportunity to get to know members of the Vibrant & Visible community in a meaningful, human way. Come tell a story — or simply listen and enjoy. Step a little (or a lot) outside your comfort zone, try something new, and share a true story from your life in a supportive community. For those who love storytelling, this is a chance to take the stage, be visible, and share your voice and presence with the community in a new way.
The evening will feature seven live 5-minute stories from members of our community, along with time to mingle and connect afterward. Stories must be true and can be on any topic, from any point in your life — a moment from childhood, unrequited love, a business faux pas, a life transition.
Rules of the 5-Minute Story
1. It must be true: The story must be based on your own life experiences.
2. No notes allowed: It is authentic, conversational storytelling told without paper or memorized scripts.
3. Time limit: You have exactly 5 minutes.
4. Conflict and resolution: A strong 5-minute story should arc properly, taking the audience through a recognizable conflict and resolution, transformation, learning, etc.
The format is inspired by The Moth. Listen here to some stories to get a sense of the format and get inspired
Here are two great books on how to find a story to tell and how to craft it.
